				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p id="page-title"><strong>Mobile Entrepreneurs Senegal seeks brilliant and motivated entrepreneurs for its second training course</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.entrepreneursmobile.org/">Mobile Entrepreneurs Senegal</a> (MES) is pleased to call for applications from interested individuals/teams seeking to be trained as mobile entrepreneurs, who would develop relevant local mobile applications for the Senegalese communities. MES is a group of mobile entrepreneurs and people interested in the opportunity that the mobile and Web technologies offer to the new generations.</p>
<p><em>Are you passionate about mobile technologies? Do you have an idea for a new web or mobile service that could change Senegal, Africa and the world? Do you want to become an entrepreneur, but you don’t know exactly how to do it? This is the opportunity for you.</em></p>
<p>The training program will <strong>start on 1st April 2013</strong> and will provide tuition, covering subjects ranging from creating mobile applications to putting it to market. We are looking for entrepreneurs who are passionate about leveraging mobile phone technology to develop applications that will bring useful service to local communities and create prosperous businesses.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>The number of seats is limited to 25. </strong></li>

<p>The training will take place <strong>from April 1 to May 4, 2013</strong> alternating between face to face sessions and remote sessions (through the <a href="http://w3devcampus.com/" target="_blank">W3DevCampus online training platform</a>). Face to face training sessions will take place at Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique (UCAD).</p>
<p>After the training there will be a period of support and mentoring, during which the trainers will provide support for the development of project prototypes, or for starting new projects following the training.</p>
<p>In May, the participants will have the opportunity to present their project to a panel of international industry experts.</p>
<p>The training is split into three tracks:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Technology track</strong>: Voice, SMS, Mobile Web services and applications, prototyping platforms, intro to HTML5 and Web accessibility;</li>
<li><strong>Business track</strong>: business models, revenue, dealing with operators, intellectual property;</li>
<li><strong>Design track</strong>: understanding your customers, structuring your service, making your service useful, usable, and engaging.</li>
</ul>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Following the successful first App Challenge contest which had been completed last October in Athens, webinos proudly announces the <a href="http://webinos.org/appchallenge" target="_blank"><strong>second cross-screen App Challenge</strong></a>. Next stop is <strong>Berlin</strong> and the best entries will have the chance to receive great publicity, meet the webinos partners and win great prizes.</p>
<p>A webinos jury of domain experts will then select up to ten best ideas. The announcement of the finalists is scheduled for March 5. The finalists will be presented and the winners will be announced during the <a href="http://www.fokus.fraunhofer.de/en/fokus_events/fame/mediawebsymposium2013/index.html" target="_blank">3rd annual FOKUS Media Web Symposium</a> hosted by Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin, Germany on March 14 and 15.</p>
<p>The prerequisite for participating to the competition is that the apps are using the webinos platform and APIs and integrate functionality of more than one device – i.e. that the apps are cross-screen.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Three months have already passed since the <a href="http://mobiwebapp.eu/2012/06/04/may-2012-edition-of-standards-for-web-applications-on-mobile/">last update to my overview of Web technologies for mobile applications</a>, and thus I have just released the quaterly update to <strong><a href="//www.w3.org/2012/08/mobile-web-app-state/"><cite>Standards for Web Applications on Mobile</cite></a></strong>.</p>
<p>The document has the latest information about the status of specifications, their expected evolution, the state of their accompanying test suites. In the past 3 months, the Open Web Platform has seen among other things the arrival of 8 new public working drafts (with Web Intents, multimedia integration and storage quota mangement particular highlights).</p>
<p>Next month (October 15), another sessions of our <a href="//www.w3devcampus.com/writing-great-web-applications-for-mobile/”">on-line training course: <cite>Mobile Web 2: Applications</cite></a> will start, and will cover a number of the technologies described in the document: don’t miss it!</p>

<p>W3C announces today a <strong><a href="http://www.w3.org/2012/08/web-and-automotive/">Shift into High Gear on the Web</a></strong>, a W3C Workshop on Web and Automotive, <strong>14-15 November 2012, in Rome (Italy)</strong>.</p>
<p>People today enjoy applications and services from multiple networked devices: notebook and desktop computers, smart phones, tablets, and Internet TVs. With our increasingly mobile lifestyles, it’s time to include the <em>connected car</em> in this mix. The Web is the ideal platform to offer a rich range of benefits and value-added services to drivers and passengers. The goal of this workshop is to explore how the Web will become the ideal platform to offer a rich range of benefits and value-added services to drivers and passengers in cars.</p>
<p>W3C invites automotive manufacturers and service providers, wireless carriers, insurance companies, application and solution developers and <a href="http://www.w3.org/2012/08/web-and-automotive/expected.html">others</a> to participate in this discussion at the workshop. W3C membership is not required to participate.</p>

<strong>Build you apps on the next generation of Web technology and win cool prizes!</strong></p>
<p>The webinos EU project is celebrating the launch of its<a href="https://developer.webinos.org/" target="_blank"> developer portal</a> by announcing the 1st webinos cross-screen app challenge. You are now invited to build cross-screen apps using the webinos platform. Go to <a href="http://webinos.org/appchallenge">http://webinos.org/appchallenge</a> for more information and access to the application form.</p>
<p>The finalists will be invited to attend the webinos App Challenge Awards event in October 2012 which will be done in conjunction with <a href="http://momoath.com/" target="_blank">Mobile Monday Athens</a>. The winners will be voted for by the audience and announced during the Awards ceremony.</p>
<p>A judges panel will be evaluating the submitted applications and selecting the 10 cool(est) and innovative finalists. Dominique Hazaël-Massieux is one of the jury members.</p>
